Today, July 11th at 6:30 p.m. Citizens of Arcadia, Blaine, Crystal Lake, Gilmore, and Joyfield Townships have ‘Land to Lakes’ Visioning Sessions results makeup session at Pleasant Valley Community Center, 3586 Glovers Lake Road, Arcadia. Bear Lake Village, Bear Lake Township, and Pleasanton residents may wish to sign up to be notified when they meet in your area as well.

Great opportunity to share your thoughts and concerns about topics such as Health Care Exchanges, the Bridge, Right to Work, and other state government issues. Right to Vote Essay Contest: Secretary of State Ruth Johnson is sponsoring, along with Patriot Week leaders, a statewide patriotic essay contest for kids in grades six through 12. Contest details are below and can also be found on the Secretary of State’s homepage at www.michigan.gov/sos.
-Each essay should answer the question, “How does a citizen’s right to vote help make America the greatest country in the world?”
-Essays must have a title and should be no longer than 400 words.
-Your essay must include your name, grade (as of September 2012), address, and contact information to notify winners (phone or email).
-Deadline: All essays must be received no later than midnight on Friday, August 10 to be considered for recognition. Essays may be submitted through the U.S. mail or through email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
